About Namdhapa National Park ![]() In the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity Namdhapa is the largest protected area located in the Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. It is in the international border between India and Myanmar(Burma) within Changlang District in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was declared as a tiger reserve under project tiger in 1983. Covering an area of 1985 sq kms Namdhapa is the largest national park in North East and one of the largest protected areas in India. A tiger reserve and a national park Namdhapa is the best place to explore the wilderness and enchanting beauty of nature. The lush green vegetation and sibylline pristine forest with ample variety of flora and fauna always cajole tourist from all over the globe. Flora & Fauna - Namdhapa National Park Namdhapa is a hot spot of biodiversity. It is considered as the botanist's dream. The forests here can be broadly classified in to tropical, temperate and alpine vegetation stretching from rain forests right up to the snows. The land is covered with tropical rainforest and Tropical Moist Deciduous forest. The thickness of the lush green in the park contains risscross of canes, bamboos, wild bananas and variety of vegetations. This park is also famous for many rare plants like the Blue Vanda, one of the rarest and endangered orchids and medicinal plant Mishimi Teeta (Copti teeta), which is used by the local people for all kinds of disease are found here. A tiger reserve, so naturally famous for tiger Namdhapa also provide shelter to elephant, leopard, snow leopard, clouded leopard, golden cat, wild dog, endangered Hoolock gibbon, Namdapha Flying Squirrel, wild buffalo, guar, hog deer, sloth bear, bison, Himalayan Tahr, Bharal, python, King cobra, the wild goats,Serow and Goral etc. This rich greeny, hilly mountainous park is also famous for avifauna as well. The bird life here include White-bellied Heron, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Green Cochoa, Purple Cochoa, Beautiful Nuthatch, Ward's Trogon, Ruddy Kingfisher, Blue-eared Kingfisher, Whitetailed fish eagle, Eurasian Hobby, Pied Falconet, White-winged Wood Duck, Himalayan Wood-owl, Rufous-throated Hill-partridge, and Whitecheeked hill partridge and many more . Other Attractions Of Namdhapa Nothing can be more exciting than camping and trekking in Namdhapa. The only way to explore this enchanting park is by trekking only. It is advisable to carry tents while trekking so that you can take rest. Camping in Namdhapa is an adventurous activity. There are places like Firmbase, Deban – a beautiful place on the bank of the river Noa – Dihing. Hornbill, Gandhigram, and Camera Point are unique places for camping and bird watching. Deban is an excellent place for angling also. How to Get there Air : Nearest airport is the Dibrugarh. One can reach Dibrugarh via Guwahati from any where in India. Rail : Nearest rail station is Tinsukia to reach Namdhapa. Nearest passenger railway station is Margherita. Road : Miao is the entry point of Namdhapa which is well connected through smooth road from Arunachal Pradesh and Dibrugarh. Best time to visit Best time to visit the place is November to March. General Info / Tips Take permission from the forest official before starting the trekking. Adequately cover yourself to get rid of several species of leech which spawned over the vegetation.
